✖ DEPTH.
History:http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Aradia
Personality: Aradia is a complex and a rarity among the rest of the characters in that she undergoes several physical iterations of self, all which have some impact on her personality, both at the present time of said iteration and later on her—until we hear otherwise—final one. When we first see her, dead and as a ghost, she is engaging in destruction with her powers, and we later find that it's out of boredom. She once had a variety of interests, but has trouble recalling her passion in them, as well as maintaining an interest in much of anything at all. When confronted by her murderer, Vriska, frustrated at being unable to understand why Aradia wasn't angry with her for killing her, Aradia's mood doesn't shift in the slightest. In fact she says she's she's fine with it. Indeed, Aradia, at this point, is a very apathetic, emotionless, and depressive character. She is obsessed with temporal inevitability, and even as she conducts the events she knows will happen as they should, she is aware, by her own admission at the time, that it will all end in failure, and her sense of incredible fatalism and apathy render her indifferent or “0k” to this outcome. While many characters are in some way manipulated by the game and its machinations, it is her single-mindedness in her obsession in that inevitability that allows her to be so led around.
Her personality as a ghost is a far-cry from when she was alive prior to her death. Aradia was a spirited, compassionate, determined, and friendly girl. She had a keen sense of adventure, and a number of interests, notably FLARPing, an EEEEXTREME! version of live-action of roleplaying that could, and often did, result in death, as well as archaeology. At the very bottom of the hemospectrum and proud of it, she regarded the oppressive trolls of higher castes as snobs, and refused to submit or defer to their will simply because they were higher. Her persistence and strong will were such that Vriska was unable to control her mind, something that she'd have had no difficulty doing with anyone else of Aradia's caste. These were arguably admirable traits, certainly with nice perks to them, however, at the other end of the spectrum, they lent themselves to reckless behaviour. Aradia can be persistent to her own detriment; when she has a strong idea in mind, it's hard to discourage her from it. This was apparent following the FLARPing incident when Tavros, her friend and fellow FLARPing partner, was paralysed from the waist down thanks to Vriska's psychic interference. Terezi, another friend, and Vriska's partner, advised Aradia to let her handle the situation, but she pressed on, sending the spirits she communed with after Vriska, which in turned incurred her wrath and retaliation that resulted in her being murdered, through the manipulation of her close friend, Sollux, no less (which further underscores the depth of Ghost Aradia's apathy).
She self-prototypes her kernel at game-start, and ends up as a frogsprite, but remains the same in personality as her ghost self.
Equius, a highblooded troll developed flushed (or red , synonymous with romantic) feelings for Aradia when she was alive, built a robot for her which could hold her spirit. Aside from having a tangible body once again, she was also capable of experiencing emotion.
Just one thing though: he programmed the chip in her heart to feel flushed for him in kind.
Yeah, she didn't much like that part. To say the least.
Upon realizing what he'd done to her, Aradia reached into her body and tore out her heart, beat it into a bloody and mechanical pulp, smacked Equius like there was no tomorrow, only to kiss him at the end. She's capable of feeling again as Aradiabot, but her emotions are all over the place, swinging from one violent extreme to the next, and back again to the apathetic demeanour that's recognizable of Ghost/Aradiasprite. She does this without warning, and with a rhyme and reason that makes sense only to her. When speaking to Rose, she tries to create random behaviour in her processor, to the point of self-destruction, only to stop this random train, because blowing herself up is beyond irrational, and what possible reason could she have for doing that? She also seeks out Vriska and lays a brutal beating on her, which results in her slow death.
Believing herself to be a “special case” in that she didn't have a dreamself, Aradia dies (again), but does, in fact, ascend to Godtier. Unlike her past selves, which were largely similar in their listless fatalism, it is here where she truly changes and reaches her pinnacle. After ascending, Aradia is much like she used to be when she was alive, cheerful, smiling, and compassionate, but now also possessed of a great deal of optimism and a sense of peace and patience afforded to her through her experiences. It's something she tries to share with others, as well. Instead of resigning everything to doomed outcomes and being uninvolved, she reaches out to others and tries to help them realize that their deaths and sacrifices aren't meaningless. She laughs and smiles, even in sad situations, and always believes in the silver lining. She used to type with 0's to convey her hollowness and sense of doom, but drops the quirk as she no longer feels she and everyone else is doomed, anymore. For the very first time, she feels truly alive it's something she's very much determined to stay that way.
GODTIER
Abilities & Weaknesses:
Time Manipulation: As an ascended Maid of Time, Aradia has absolute mastery over its flow, and is able to stop, splinter, or loop it. In addition, she can travel any which way through it, and her innate understanding of it and its mechanics also allow her to navigate through spaces where the flow of time is erratic, unsteady, or otherwise irregular, though she is limited in not being able to chart paths that are especially complex. Her understanding of time also includes knowledge on the consequences of what can go wrong, and as such, she handles the use of her powers with great care.
Immortality: A perk of Godtier, Aradia is immortal, but it comes with certain conditions. She can't be killed, unless her death is Heroic (eg. Involving self-sacrifice) or Just (eg. Someone having a legitimate reason to kill her. An in-canon Just death, for example, involved someone being killed because their continue actions would have endangered a lot of lives.)
Flight: Aradia can fly with fairy Godtier wings. With sparkly fairy dust! Pretty straight-forward.
Whipkind: She hasn't used it since her death, but Aradia previously used a Whip as a weapon, and possesses some degree of skill with it.
PSYCHIC ABILITIES
Telekinesis: Aradia is a powerful telekinetic. She's seen redirecting and launching meteors, and destroying large ruins with no effort on her part. She can also levitate with her powers, but since reaching Godtier, she hasn't has any need to. Her power isn't dependent on having a natural—or any—body, either, as seen with her use of it while dead and as a robot.
Hearing the Dead: Aradia can hear the voices of and commune with the dead, and summon their spirits, even across distances, as seen when she has them haunt Vriska.
Sleep Induction: Aradia possesses the ability to induce sleep in people, as seen when she does with Sollux. Vriska, another troll with similar abilities, as well as the ability to greatly manipulate others, can't affect humans with her power to any great depth—in fact, she can't do more than put others to sleep. The limits of troll powers on humans is unclear, so it possible that Aradia's ability might not affect humans at all, won't without great effort, or might work as normal, in case the only thing that can be done to humans is sleep, no matter who's doing it or how much effort is put into it.
WEAKNESSES
Low Psychic Endurance: As a lowblooded troll, Aradia is very susceptible to mental manipulation, offensive, or intrusion. It should be noted that Vriska, a troll capable of all of the above, cannot affect Aradia with her powers, for reasons that are not explicitly stated in the canon. It could be due to a strong will, her own powers, and/or her enmity of Vriska (which would only further strengthen that will), but she would be otherwise susceptible to anyone else who didn't incite those feelings.
Other Information: Maroon-blooded trolls only have a life expectancy of 12-24 sweeps/26-52 human years, so if ever Aradia would to lose her immortality, that's how long she'd live.
With regards to any mental aging, Aradia is a special case. Time flows differently for heroes of the aspect; they're able to spend a measure of time several times over in the same space of it. For instance, Dave Strider, another Hero of Time, has lived seventy two hours in twenty four. That is just one example, and it's worth noting that the trolls have been playing their version of the game for a lot longer than the human kids have. Aradia's done a lot of growing up in a number of ways at the point of time that I'll be pulling from, both from her experience with time and her very literal metamorphoses. At the end of the latter, she's at the highest point of her life, renewed and optimistic, and determined to hold onto her new vitality. Regular growing up wouldn't really affect her mentality all that much. Also noting that all the kids, troll and human alike, don't act like your typical thirteen year olds. They're hardly paragons of maturity—growing up is one of the themes or the canon, but they are capable of a lot from the get-go (eg. Killing, a great deal of perseverance in the face of adversity, etc.). This goes especially for the trolls whose incredibly violent cultures cultivates maturity quickly.
